Vacancy for Assistant Director, Research

 Committed Communities Development Trust (CCDT) works with rights-based approach in the field of Health and Education and engages with varied issues of vulnerability. It aligns with efforts that seek to enable and empower the most deprived for a sustainable change in society. 
CCDT is in the process of developing a Resource center that would seek to blend academic rigor and grassroots level experiences in the field of development sector research and training. The role and position of Assistant Director, Research, is pivotal to this dream. 

Assistant Director – Research

The Assistant Director Research shall assist the Director Training and Research in building the Research Department of the organization to meet its research needs that inform its strategy and program design as also to cater to social research needs in related fields beyond the organization

Key Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director Research shall primarily be responsible for defining, conceptualizing, developing and designing the research needs of the organization in alignment with its strategy. S/he will also be responsible for identifying needs for research in the fields of health and education and issues related to vulnerability both within and beyond the organization. S/he will report directly to the Director, Training, Research and Alternative Communication (TRAC).

The Assistant Director’s specific responsibilities include:
• Assisting the Director, TRAC in defining research objectives and needs in alignment with the strategy of the organization
• Assessing research needs in the fields of health and education and on issues of vulnerability both within and outside the organization
• Identifying and evaluating potential clients in the field of social research
• Developing and pitching proposals for studies (including among others empirical research, testing theories and hypotheses, policy evaluation) in social research to clients
• Liaising and coordinating with clients to understand the nature of the research required
• Developing abstracts and proposals (which would include the concept, time schedule, and budget) for the research studies needed to be undertaken as identified above
• Designing the research studies to be undertaken
• Designing and detailing the appropriate methodologies to be used in any given research study 
• Ensuring development and application of tools and other research techniques necessary for data/information collection and quantitative and qualitative analysis
• Training and directing field investigators and coordinating with the Programs Department within the organization and clients outside the organization to ensure smooth collection of information 
• Ensuring quality, validity and reliability of information/data collected and the analysis done
• Ensuring and guiding research officers in programming, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of the information and data collected to ensure key issues are identified and highlighted as findings of the research
• Ensuring preparation and compilation of results
• Presenting results and assisting Director, TRAC in disseminating them 
• Developing successful experiences into replicable intervention models
• Assisting Director, TRAC in providing advice based on empirical research to the CEO to design and sharpen programs implementation and guide strategy evolution. This would include developing written action plans 

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

• Post graduate in Social Sciences

• Trained in statistical techniques and web-based applications for the social sciences 
• Seven years experience in empirical research, programming and data analysis of which the last two years have been in managing research projects
• Demonstrated skills in managing research activities including developing and evaluating research protocol, data quality control and writing research reports
• Experience of having worked in a full-fledged research institution will have an added advantage
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Position Title: Manager – Corporate Partnerships

 

The Manager Corporate Partnerships shall assist the Deputy Director Resource Mobilization in defining the strategy to build the corporate partnership program of CCDT so as to motivate them to partner through financial and in-kind resources. S/he shall lead the management of the corporate partnership program and shall report directly to the Deputy Director Resource Mobilization

 

 

Key Tasks:

 

1.       Conduct market research to analyse corporate contributions, assess donor priorities and identify potential sources of funding

2.       Identify and sensitize industry about cause of the organization with the aim to develop partnerships

3.       Develop and pitch proposals so as to meet position purpose

4.       Liaise and coordinate with potential donors to synergize the requirements of the organization with their interest areas and to follow up on funding proposals submitted to them

5.       Managing donor relationships and ensuring donor requirements are met. This would include preparing documents required by donors for facilitating funding and coordinating with various departments and units of the organization to ensure reporting as well as evaluation by the donor

6.       Develop, maintain and update information on current and potential sources of funding

7.       Build and manage corporate relationship to build commitment to the cause and the organisation

8.       Monitor, review and report on the strategies and results

Essential Values and Skills:

5.       Willingness to travel extensively within Mumbai city and outside as required

 

 

Qualifications:

1.       Must hold a Graduate /Post Graduate Degree with 3-4 years of experience in Marketing, Fund Raising and/or Client Servicing.

2.       Proven track record in resource mobilization strongly recommended

It works with rights-based approach in the field of Health and Education and therefore, aligns with efforts that seek to enable and empower the most vulnerable and deprived for a sustainable change in society.

For the last 20 years, CCDT has worked with marginalized communities living in the slums and Red-Light areas of Mumbai, engaging with people impacted by HIV/AIDS and with ensuing stigma, discrimination and deprivation. Children, especially orphan and vulnerable children, and women, including women in prostitution, have constituted the core of its integrated community development interventions.

Today it can share with some degree of pride that through its direct and indirect interventions, CCDT has reached out to 11, 00,000 people.
