Residential Care Programs
CCDT Party

The epidemic of HIV and AIDS has begun to alter the meanings of hope and joy, fun and play, stress and sorrow for a child who is infected or/and affected by the disease. Prevailing ignorance and stigma, about HIV and AIDS and accompanying ostracism make survival with dignity an enormous burden for children. In everyday life, the rights of such children are often denied. Death of a parent invariably results in the falling apart of the family, further compounding difficulties for children.

CCDT, therefore responding to the urgent needs, has been working relentlessly in Mumbai and adjacent areas since 1990 to enable communities and their children to access amenities and avenues related to protection, development, health care, recreation and dignity. Working with women in prostitution and their children have also made us realize the intensity of vulnerability and hardships women and children face in especially challenging difficult situations, such as in the red light areas, further compounded by the high prevalence of HIV. We work with children towards better tomorrow and with a future of opportunities to realize their potential to the fullest. CCDT’s Residential projects, namely Ashray, Aakaar, Ankur-Asmita and Umang and Community Projects- CHILD, Saksham, and CHAHA are addressing the problems related to Orphan and Vulnerable Children.
