Many a time, beneficiaries are not aware of the services that can be availed during the period of their pregnancy, lactation, or for their children. Thus, it becomes very important to bring about awareness and link them with services designed to facilitate safe motherhood and a healthy childhood. Timely and appropriate referrals—for critical cases of high-risk Pregnant Women and Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) children—are crucial to averting life-threatening situations and preventing maternal and child mortality.
Community organizers promote early registrations during pregnancy to facilitate uptake of antenatal care services, as well as early identification and necessary treatment of risk factors. Additionally, SAM children are also identified and referred to Nutrition Rehabilitation Centers (NRCs) for Medical Nutrition Therapy.
