It was a day filled with emotions, when both, brothers from Aakaar & Umang and sisters from Ankur-Asmita got together to celebrate their day of bonding and love.

The celebration took place at Aakaar, Khandala, where an entire day’s programme was planned by both the centres. A variety of sweets were prepared by the girls from Ankur-Asmita for their brothers who greeted them big smiles and warmth. The programme included tying ‘rakhis’ to all the brothers who in turn gifted their sisters with goodies. In addition, the programme also included dances, music and a delicious non vegetarian spread prepared by the Aakaar team. A short nature trail was also planned where all the children accompanied by the staff, were taken out to experience the waterfall nearby. The girls were mighty thrilled to have seen the much heard of ‘waterfall’.

This indeed made the entire day more memorable and significantly marked one of our many efforts to establish a life-long nurturing relationship between all the brothers and sisters.

One of CCDT’s Residential Care Programmes (RCPs) named ‘Umang’ successfully completed 10 years on 21st June, 2015. On this special occasion, the youth of Umang and staff members spent half a day with the community children at the Maitree Project. The day began with a movie screened on the Maitree Project, followed by a discussion with the child leaders of ‘Nanhi Mutthi’ and last but not the least, a walk around the community. The time spent between both projects was truly an enriching experience.
